Primary Purpose:

  

Ensure the safety of the facility patrons in and around the pool and monitoring swimmers by preventing and responding to emergencies to prevent accidents and to enforce all safety rules.

                                                                               

 

Qualifications: 

 

Education/Certification:

Current Lifeguard Certification

Current CPR for professional rescuer 

Standard First Aid

       

       

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of lifesaving methods and procedures, including first aid and standard resuscitation measures

Knowledge of rules and regulations governing conduct of the facility

Knowledge of pool equipment and maintenance

Knowledge of swimming pool sanitation and chlorination systems

Skilled in swimming

Skilled in the application of lifesaving techniques

Ability to effectively recognize and react quickly and calmly in emergencies

Ability to perform rescue actions, administer first aid and CPR

Ability to communicate effectively with patrons, supervisor, and other employees Ability to remain alert, attentive, and responsible

       

Experience:

1 year lifeguard experience

        

Major Responsibilities and Duties: 

 

  1. Enforce all facility rules, regulations and policies.
  2. Recognizes and responds to emergencies.
  3. Strong swimming and life saving abilities
  4. Inspects the facility on a daily schedule and reports unsafe conditions and equipment to supervisor.
  5. Wear appropriate attire while on duty.
  6. Assists with cleaning of the facility.
  7. Completes additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
  8. Attend all staff meetings /trainings.

        

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

 None.

Employee is frequently required to walk, stand sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

 

Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

 

Employee is occasionally exposed to wet and dry conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals.

 

Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office, and moderately loud when in the facility.

 

Employee may be exposed to stressful situations as a result of human behavior.
