Pay Grade: 5  $15.06/$18.22/$21.38

 

Primary Purpose:

Under general supervision, maintain and repair heating and air conditioning filter equipment throughout the district.

Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems within all district facilities.

 

Qualification Guidelines:

 

Education/Certifications:

High School diploma or GED

Valid Texas driver's license

 

Experience:

One-year experience in general building maintenance

 

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Ability to diagnose and resolve problems

Ability to use hand and power tools

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Ability to work independently

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

 

Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands:

Tools/Equipment Used: High pressure washer, hand and power tools, ladder, light truck or van

Posture/Motion/Lifting: Continuouswalking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, carrying and heavy lifting. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, outside and inside.

Environment: Exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent district-wide travel, works around machinery with moving parts. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours; work indoors and outdoorsto conduct on-site inspection ofall facilities and construction projects. Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; communicate effectively and professionally at all times

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Maintenance and Repair

1. Change all air conditioning/heating filters on a schedule.

2. Perform routine maintenance on air conditioning and heating equipment such as cleaning coils, oil and grease motors and bearings, check belts, clean drain pans and drain lines, etc. 3. Assist heating, ventilating and air conditioning technicians when needed.

4. Respond to air conditioning leak calls.

5. Clean ducts and diffusers.

6. Deliver filters to custodians.

7. Report heating, ventilating and air conditioning problems when identified.

8. Receive and complete work orders.

9. Work with principals and supervisor to complete projects.

10. Respond to emergency calls as needed.

 

Safety

11. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and maintenance equipment.

12. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.

13. Ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.

14. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.

15. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.

16. Perform other duties as assigned.
