Primary Purpose:
Maintain safe and attractive roads, grounds and landscaping for the district.
Qualification Guidelines:
Education/Certifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Texas driver's license
Experience:
One-year experience in gardening and landscape maintenance
One-year experience in heavy equipment desired
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of gardening and landscape maintenance
Ability to communicate (verbally)
Ability to operate riding or power mower, power tools, and hand tools
Ability to work with people and take direction from supervisor

Tools/Equipment Used: Heavy equipment, tractor and mower; riding and power mower; gas-powered weed trimmer; blower; edger; sprayer; striping machine; garden and hand tools; aerator; truck or van
Posture/Motion/Lifting: Continuous walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, carrying and heavy lifting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, outside and inside
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours. Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals (fertilizer), and loud noises; frequent district wide travel, works around machinery with moving parts; works on ladders or scaffolding
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; communicate effectively and professionally at all times
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Mow and detail all district grounds, including athletic fields.
2 Care for trees, shrubs and flowers by watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching and caring for beds.
3. Watering grounds and applying fertilizer.
4. Collect and dispose ofleaves, dirt, rubbish and refuse from district facilities.
5. Assist with the installation, test, adjust, and repair of sprinkler systems.
6. Assist in moving furniture
Safety
7. Operate tools, equipment and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
8. Follow established safety procedures and technique to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
9. Ensure that vehicles, equipment and tools are in safe operating condition.
10. Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency.
11. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately
