Specialist, Social, Emotional, Behavior Support

 

Pay Scale:  Administrative - Instructional

 

Pay Grade:  3

 

Days:  193

 

Primary Purpose:

Develop the student as a person through campus wide PBIS implementation and social emotional learning instruction. Improve social, and emotional competencies of staff and students.

Provide modeling, coaching, and technical assistance to campus staff regarding social, emotional, and behavioral strategies.

 

Qualification Guidelines:

 

Education/Certifications:

Master's degree in education, psychology, social work, counseling or related field (preferred) but Bachelor's degree and experience may be substituted for Master's degree

Valid Texas Teaching certificate or a valid professional license to practice in the State of Texas

 

Experience:

Working with individuals struggling in the areas of social, emotional and/or behavioral skill development

Working with families and the community (preferred)

Providing group professional development and/or individual technical assistance

 

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of varied behavior management strategies, de-escalation techniques

Exhibit positive and collaborative relationship with parents, administrators and teachers

Consistent record of implementing best practices in emotional/behavioral-related issues

Knowledge and application of counseling, coaching and/or mentoring techniques

Knowledge of appropriate interventions for students with severe emotional and behavioral needs

Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
