Primary Purpose:

Review and Maintain Special Education eligibility folders to ensure data integrity. Maintain updated Special Education Policies and Procedures D

Qualifications:

Education:

High School Diploma

Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Excellent organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

Ability to work both independently and as a team member

Ability to use software programs

Extensive knowledge of Special Education Specifically Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee meeting requirements

Experience:

Five years of experience working with at Risk Population

Experience in Special Education or related field

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Ability to apply knowledge of federal, state, and district policies and procedures surrounding Special Education
  2. Coordinate paperwork, evaluations, IEPS, with all related and instructional service, teachers and assessment personnel.
  3. Attend monthly meetings and training regarding special education
  4. Assist with communication among assessment and related/instructional services
  5. Assist the campus team to ensure campus compliance with federal and state laws.
  6. Use technology to organize information, develop and maintain ARD documentation
  7. Submit lists, forms, and data requested by the Special Education Coordinator by due dates
  8. Maintain eligibility folders with information in chronological order
  9. Review and correct clerical errors in student files to ensure data integrity
  10. Work collaboratively with building staff and administrators
  11. Act as the liaison to building personnel and Central Office staff
  12. Review Career Tech Education (CTE) and Special Education coding to ensure data integrity
  13. Maintain and update Special Education Policies and Procedures
  14. Perform other duties as assigned
  15. File original ARD paperwork received from the campuses in the student’s eligibility folder
  16. Send red slips to case manage if items are missing in order to create a complete folder for student
  17.  Review all incoming ARDs for possible errors before filing in student audit folder
  18. Follow end of year procedures for folder transfer, summer testing, etc.
  19. Support the SE Systems Analyst through end of year closeout and beginning of year opening.
  20. Support end of year file restructure each June.
  21. Support Special Services director and coordinators with follow up for non-completion data requests.
  22. Monitor and communicate progress report timelines to all teachers and service providers.
  23. Answer phones as needed.
  24. Audit IEP paperwork for content, specifically PLAAFP Statements and aligned measurable goals.
  25. Other duties assigned.
