Qualification Guidelines: Education/Certifications: High School Diploma or GED Valid Texas driver's license Experience: Two years’ experience in gardening and landscape maintenance Ability to follow directions Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of gardening and landscape maintenance. Ability to communicate (verbally) Ability to operate tractor and landscaping equipment Ability to operate riding or power mower, power tools & hand tools Ability to read and understand written instruction Ability to work with people and take direction from supervisor Ability to operate a truck up to 1 ½ tons Supervisory Responsibilities: Act as crew lead when supervisor is off Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands: Tools/Equipment Used: 1 ½ ton lift gate truck, dollies, piano rollers and power lifts Posture/Motion/Lifting Continuous walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, carrying and heavy lifting. Frequent district wide travel, works around machinery with moving parts Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; communicate effectively and professionally at all times Major Responsibilities and Duties: Major Responsibilities and Duties: Mow, weed eat and detail all district grounds, including athletic fields. Care for trees, shrubs and flowers by watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching and caring for beds. Watering grounds and applying fertilizer. Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish and refuse from district facilities. Inspect grounds and facilities and initiate needed repairs, including building and repair of fences and gates. Assist with the installation, testing, adjustment and repair of sprinkler systems. Safety Operate tools, equipment and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and technique to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc. Ensure that vehicles, equipment and tools are in safe operating condition. Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately. Insures inventory disposition slips are correct. 4. Coordinates with personnel on request from outside district facilities. 5. Maintain inventory of all items at storage facility. 6.
