Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Excellent organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work both independently and as a team member
Ability to use software programs
Extensive knowledge of Special Education Specifically Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee meeting requirements
Experience:
Five years of experience working with at Risk Population
Experience in Special Education or related field
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Ability to apply knowledge of federal, state, and district policies and procedures surrounding Special Education
- Coordinate paperwork, evaluations, IEPS, with all related and instructional service, teachers and assessment personnel.
- Attend monthly meetings and training regarding special education
- Assist with communication among assessment and related/instructional services
- Assist the campus team to ensure campus compliance with federal and state laws.
- Use technology to organize information, develop and maintain ARD documentation
- Submit lists, forms, and data requested by the Special Education Coordinator by due dates
- Maintain eligibility folders with information in chronological order
- Review and correct clerical errors in student files to ensure data integrity
- Work collaboratively with building staff and administrators
- Act as the liaison to building personnel and Central Office staff
- Review Career Tech Education (CTE) and Special Education coding to ensure data integrity
- Maintain and update Special Education Policies and Procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
- File original ARD paperwork received from the campuses in the student’s eligibility folder
- Send red slips to case manage if items are missing in order to create a complete folder for student
- Review all incoming ARDs for possible errors before filing in student audit folder
- Follow end of year procedures for folder transfer, summer testing, etc.
- Support the SE Systems Analyst through end of year closeout and beginning of year opening.
- Support end of year file restructure each June.
- Support Special Services director and coordinators with follow up for non-completion data requests.
- Monitor and communicate progress report timelines to all teachers and service providers.
- Answer phones as needed.
- Audit IEP paperwork for content, specifically PLAAFP Statements and aligned measurable goals.
- Other duties assigned.
